During the shooting down of the Russian cruiser "Moscow" in the Black Sea by Neptune missiles, the Ukrainian side received intelligence from the United States.
APA reports that sources familiar with the situation in the US Department of Defense told CNN.
"Ukrainian forces, which saw a Russian warship in the Black Sea, contacted the United States to confirm that it was indeed a Moscow cruiser.
"The American side said it was a Moscow cruiser," the source said.
At the same time, the information that the United States is preparing to strike the cruiser on the Ukrainian side is not accurate.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces made an independent decision and the United States did not interfere in the shooting down of the ship.
This information was confirmed by NBC News on Thursday, citing unnamed officials.
It should be noted that the Russian Defense Ministry said that a fire broke out as a result of an explosion of ammunition during the withdrawal of the cruiser "Moscow" to the port of destination.
Due to the damage to the hull, the ship lost its stability and sank in a stormy sea.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said that the cruiser was hit by two Ukrainian-made Neptune anti-ship missiles.
