In the absence of any legal evidence from the Socialist Party of Serbia on their allegations of irregularities in the elections in Velika Tarnovac, the municipality of Bujanovac, after the April 3 elections, the Municipal Election Commission of Bujanovac today decided to reject the appeal of the Socialists.
And for this, Shaip Kamberi, the head of the coalition of Albanians in the Presevo Valley said that he hopes that "the complainants will understand the situation, that there were no irregularities and will not delay the whole process," Telegrafi reports.
According to the results of the repeated elections in Velika Tarnovac, that coalition of Albanians should have a mandate in the Assembly of Serbia, which would cause the loss of a mandate by the Socialist Party of Serbia.
"Well, it is clear that the Socialists are losing a mandate for this, and I hope their procrastination is not ethnically motivated.
The over 13,000 votes our list received is a clear indication that Albanians want integration.
"The eventual cancellation of the elections will be a signal to us that there are forces in Serbia that are concerned about this", said Shaip Kamberi, reports Telegrafi.
According to the media in Serbia, the permanent and expanded MEC voted with a result of eight to five against the complaint of the Socialists.
This decision of the MEC in Bujanovac paved the way for the announcement of the final election results on 3 April and the subsequent formation of the Assembly and Government of Serbia, although the SPS has the right to appeal to the Serbian Election Commission within 72 hours.
The President of the Socialist Party of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, reacted to this.
"Yes, we will appeal the decision of the Municipal Election Commission of Bujanovac, which has rejected our request to repeat the elections in Velika Tarnovac due to election irregularities," said Dacic.
