The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama has reacted today after the publication of the World Index of Press Freedom by the organization "Reporters Without Borders".

In a Twitter post, Rama called some of the findings in the report untrue.

"In Albania, there are neither intimidated media, nor journalists obstructed in their freedom.

"Even in Albania there are more and more victims of slander, lies and false news!" Rama said.

"There is talk of trials with journalists, when in fact there is none!

"We are talking about the anti-defamation law when in fact it does not exist!", Adds the Prime Minister.

Journalists victims of police violence in Albania?

What a lie!

Journalists critical of government face political attacks?

What a fantasy!

Ethical self-regulation in the Albanian media?

What a mockery!

"Only the title is missing: The complaint about the lack of freedom because we do not know what to do with freedom!", Rama emphasized.

"I know that this opinion of mine will be classified as an attack, pressure, aggression against the media, but I find it impossible to remain silent when I see how some people mock the freedom of speech and how the freedom of the press becomes the freedom of the press, violating on the facts, the people and the country, on its behalf! ”, said the Prime Minister at the end of his post.

Recall that in the new report of the organization 'Reporters Without Borders' Albania is ranked 103rd, losing points in media freedom.

Albania is part of the list of countries where the authorities have intensified laws against journalists.
