An additive found in many foods can have a detrimental effect on good bacteria in the body, especially in the digestive system.

It has been established that the carboxymethylcellulose emulsifier (CMC) can accelerate the development of chronic inflammatory diseases and by adversely affecting the microbiome, even endangers immunity!

What is particularly troubling is the fact that it is sometimes even found in yogurt, which is considered a "mandatory" food to strengthen immunity!

The study, published in the official journal of the American Gastroenterology Association, included healthy adults divided into two groups, one group eating food without additives and the other consuming 15 grams of CMC per day.

Those who swallowed this additive were more likely to have stomach problems after a meal and experienced negative changes in the intestinal microbiome.

Intestinal problems reduce immunity

"CMC, like other synthetic emulsifiers, can accelerate the development of chronic inflammatory diseases.

"More studies are needed to finally determine their exact effect, but those who are concerned about health should not eat processed foods that contain CMC and polysorbate 80", says Dr.

Andrew Gerwitz, co-author of the study.

According to experts, this additive is most often found in ice cream and other frozen cakes, in mixes for hot chocolate, syrups, bag sauces, yogurt, cream cheese and some pastries.
