"In his speech at the conference" South Caucasus: Development and Cooperation "on April 29, President Ilham Aliyev spoke at length about Azerbaijan's peace agenda in the Caucasus and gave important messages."

Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense, Security and Combating Corruption Ziyafat Asgarov told APA.

Z.Asgarov said that acts of barbarism and vandalism were carried out in all our cities and villages during the occupation of Armenians for almost 30 years, all towns and villages were destroyed: “Mass destruction is the result.

Most of our villages and cities have been destroyed and devastated.

In some districts, such as Kalbajar, Lachin, and partly in Zangilan and Shusha, an illegal settlement program was officially sponsored by the Armenian government.

This was a gross violation of international conventions. "

The chairman of the parliamentary committee noted that Azerbaijan, which liberated its lands from occupation during the Great Patriotic War, promotes a peace agenda in the Caucasus. .

These principles will form the basis of a peace agreement to be signed with Armenia.

At the same time, based on these principles, Armenia agreed to establish a joint working group with Azerbaijan to begin the delimitation process.

If a peace agreement is signed and these basic principles are implemented, then peace in the Caucasus will be long-lasting and lasting.

Azerbaijan's openly declared and accepted international peace agenda and initiatives are aimed at creating new opportunities for regional development in the South Caucasus.

This is an issue not only between Azerbaijan and Armenia, but in the South Caucasus in general.

Z.Asgarov noted that Azerbaijan, unlike Armenia, is a country with many ethnic groups: “We consider Armenians living in Karabakh as our citizens.

We hope that they will soon understand that living as citizens of Azerbaijan will ensure all their rights and security.

All ethnic groups, including Armenians, live here in peace and dignity.

Armenians living in Karabakh can also feel safer and more comfortable in a single Azerbaijani state.

For this, first of all, Armenians must put an end to separatist tendencies and understand the realities.

They have to look at the map and geography and do not understand that hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis will return to Kalbajar, Lachin, Shusha, Agdam in the near future, and they will have to live in such an environment, in the neighborhood.

According to the President of Azerbaijan, the South Caucasus should be a place of integrated security and cooperation.

Azerbaijan and Georgia have very close bilateral and international cooperation.

However, Armenia cannot continue to live in this region as an isolated island.

They must normalize relations, put an end to territorial claims to Azerbaijan and Turkey, and refrain from any tripartite contact in the South Caucasus. "

The chairman of the parliamentary committee believes that there can be no cooperation and economic benefits without security: “We must look at security and cooperation in our region through the prism of today and tomorrow.

Azerbaijan's economic activity also stems from stability.

Sustainability is an integral part of security.

In this regard, the Shusha Declaration signed between Turkey and Azerbaijan and the Declaration on Allied Interaction between Azerbaijan and Russia should be noted.

Both Turkey and Russia are participants in a new post-war configuration in the region.

The Turkish-Russian Monitoring Center, which monitors the situation, is located in Agdam.

As President Ilham Aliyev noted, such a format was possible for the first time in history.

In addition, Turkish-Russian relations must be taken into account.

The current regional configuration satisfies Azerbaijan.

Our country has good relations not only with Russia and Turkey, but also with other neighboring countries - Georgia and Iran.

All this serves regional security and stability. "
