Residents of Beijing will have to pass a negative test for Kovid-19 to gain access to public places.

The measure comes into force on May 5, AFP reported, citing a statement from the authorities in the Chinese capital.

The news was announced on the first day of the weekend, which this time will be extended (five days in total) due to Labor Day.

The Chinese usually take this opportunity to travel around the country, but this year, due to the deteriorating epidemiological situation, many of them will stay at home.

After the five days off, a negative result from the test for Kovid-19, made last week, will be mandatory from May 5 in Beijing.

The measure is in force for access to many public places and for public transport.

For sports activities and group travel, a test not older than 48 hours will also be required, as well as proof of a full vaccination cycle.

Tests for Kovid-19 in the Chinese capital will be available for free from Tuesday.

China has registered more than 10,700 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Almost all are in Shanghai.

There are 54 newly infected people in Beijing, BTA notes.
