NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltebnerg has said that the North Atlantic Alliance is ready to support Ukraine against Russian occupation - a war that could last for months but possibly years.

"We will continue to do our utmost to put pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war - by imposing sanctions, and on the other hand by supporting Ukraine economically but also militarily - and we must be prepared for long-term challenges." , added Stoltenberg at the NATO summit in Brussels, Telegrafi reports.

"It's an unpredictable situation in Ukraine.

"But there are possibilities for this war to last for months and years," said the leader of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Stoltenberg stressed that NATO was getting ready to help Kiev advance militarily, and set aside Soviet-era equipment to replace it with modern ones - but that, according to the NATO chief, time and training are needed.

The United States and European countries, including the Netherlands and France, have recently announced that they will supply Ukraine with long-range weapons, such as howitzers - which help Ukraine defend itself against Russia.

Germany has recently announced that it will supply Ukraine with anti-tank shells, as it has recently been widely criticized for indifference and has been reluctant to help the Ukrainian military.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said on Wednesday that she would support the Ukrainian army - and even provide training and maintenance of military equipment.
