AZANS is implementing a new automated air traffic control system at the international airport being built in the liberated territory of Azerbaijan - Zangilan - as part of the restoration of air navigation infrastructure to ensure flight safety.

Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC told APA-Economics that a successful test of the system was launched on April 26 by Azeraeronavigation Air Traffic Control (AZANS) and DFS Aviation Services (DAS), which is responsible for air traffic control in Germany. ) with the joint participation of company representatives.

The system is based on a modern automated Phoenix system developed by DAS specialists.

"The new international airports being built in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan meet all modern security standards and have a well-developed infrastructure that meets high international standards.

The introduction of a new automated system at Zangilan Airport will help increase flight safety, as well as increase the capacity of the airspace, "said AZAL President Jahangir Asgarov.

"Cooperation between AZANS and DFS Aviation Services in the framework of the application of Phoenix software and hardware at the new international airports in Azerbaijan is important in improving the level of flight safety," said DAS Managing Director Andreas Pouch.

All technical and operational staff of AZANS underwent relevant trainings conducted by German specialists.

It should be noted that the Phoenix system is the second automated air traffic control system used for the operation of control towers at new airports in Azerbaijan.

The first system was introduced by the German air navigation service in August 2021 at the Fizuli International Airport.

Zangilan International Airport, with a 3,000-meter runway, will be equipped with the latest navigation infrastructure that meets all international requirements and standards.

The Zangilan international airport is expected to be commissioned in 2022.
