A new head coach has been appointed to the Azerbaijani men's boxing team.
According to Apasport.az, according to the decision of the Board of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation, the national team has been assigned to Cuban Pedro Roque.
An agreement has been signed with an experienced coach until the end of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
His main goal is to perform successfully in every competition in which the Azerbaijani national team will participate, especially in the Olympics.
Pedro Roque also coached our team in 2014-2016.
Under his leadership, our boxers performed at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Olympics and have so far achieved the best result in our history at the Olympics.
At that time, Lorenzo Sotomayor (64 kg) was the first to live for our national team, reaching the final in the most magnificent competition of 4 years and finally winning a silver medal.
Kamran Shahsuvarli (75 kg) also finished Rio 2016 with a bronze medal.
