Kosovo leaders have congratulated the re-election of Emmanuel Macron, President of France.

The leader of LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, in his greeting said that a strong France is a guarantee for a strong Europe.

"Congratulations Macron on the historic re-election and the new momentum for our continent.

"A strong France is a guarantee for a strong Europe," Abdixhiku wrote, while saying that it is time for Kosovars to have visa liberalization.

PDK chairman Memli Krasniqi said Macron's re-election gave hope to the European project.

"It also strengthens the prospects for Kosovo's future within the EU," he wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, even heads of state, congratulated Macron.

President Vjosa Osmani said that she expects strengthening of cooperation and deepening of relations between Kosovo and France.

"I congratulate President Emmanuel Macron on his re-election tonight.

I look forward to strengthening our cooperation and deepening our excellent bilateral relations.

"His support is key to our sustainable Euro-Atlantic path," Osmani wrote.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Albin Kurti wrote in a Twitter post that Macron's victory is a hope over fear and a new chance for France to help unite Europe in peace, democracy and solidarity.

"Congratulations to Emanuel Macron on his re-election.

"It is a victory of hope over fear and a new chance for France to help unite Europe in peace, democracy and solidarity," Kurti wrote.

According to reliable projections, based on real results, Macron, 44, won more than 58 percent of the vote, compared to less than 42 percent of Le Pen, 53.

The victory of the pro-European Macron can be seen by some as a break from events that have hit politics recently, including Britain's departure from the European Union and the rise of a generation of nationalist leaders.

Macron has become the first president in modern French history to win a second term and hold a parliamentary majority.

France is holding new parliamentary elections in June and the situation may change, but for now it can continue to advance its domestic and international policies.
