India's reply to China

New Delhi:

India has suspended tourist visas issued to Chinese citizens.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has also given information about this.

India's decision not to grant tourist visas to Chinese tourists comes after China is not allowing more than 20,000 Indian students to return.

In fact, these students had to leave their studies in China and come to India when the COVID-19 pandemic started in early 2020.

In a circular issued on April 20 regarding India, IATA said, "Tourist visas issued to citizens of China (People's Republic) are no longer valid."

IATA also said that tourist visas with a validity of 10 years are no longer valid.

IATA is a global airline body with approximately 290 members.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said on March 17 that India has urged Beijing to take an "amicable stand" in the matter as the continuation of strict restrictions is putting the academic careers of thousands of Indian students at risk.

Bagchi said the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman had said on February 8 that China was looking into the matter in a coordinated manner and that arrangements for allowing foreign students to return to China were being investigated.

“But let me make it clear that till date, the Chinese side has not given any clear response regarding the return of Indian students. We will continue to urge the Chinese side to take a favorable position in the interest of our students and that they will soon Provide facility as soon as possible.

India is pressuring China to allow the return of over 23,000 Indian students pursuing medical studies.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had raised the issue during the recent visit of his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi to New Delhi last month.

China has been allowing students from some of its friendly countries such as Pakistan, Thailand and the Solomon Islands to return, but has allowed Indian students as well as hundreds of family members of Indians working in China to travel back. he is quiet.
