OBRM-PDUKM Deputy Chairman Gordana Dimitrieska-Koçoska accuses that announcements of new government borrowing will bring Macedonia to its knees.

According to her, in just two years, the Government of SDSM and DUI owe the state 1.6 billion euros, while with the new largest debt this year that is planned with the rebalancing of the budget, the new debt for only three years will be 2.3.

billion euros and will reach a historic peak of 7.9 billion euros.

According to Dimitrieska-Kocoska, at this rate, the total borrowing of the Government for a period of 6 years has exceeded the 10-year borrowing of the previous government of VMRO-DPMNE - 3.2 billion euros in 6 years, compared to 2.9 billion euros for 10 years.

"But why did they get into debt?

In 2020 they borrowed to help the country in the conditions of health and economic crisis.

Did they succeed?

No .. We stood very badly in terms of fighting the pandemic worldwide and we are even worse off in growing the economy.

Despite high debt, it failed to stabilize the economy in 2020, with the deepest decline since independence at 6.1%, a decline that was twice as high as the 2001 internal conflict and the deepest in the region.

In 2021 we had economic growth of only 4%, which is the weakest achievement in the region.

We have not had any capital investment ", says Dimitrieska-Kocoska./alsat/
