Most citizens oppose Serbia's EU membership, according to a study by the ISOS agency published in the Blic newspaper, quoted by BTA.

The reason for this is the pressure that Brussels is putting on Belgrade in connection with the imposition of sanctions against Russia.

According to the poll, 44 per cent of respondents are against Serbia's European integration, and 35 per cent support it.

The remaining 21 percent did not want to indicate or could not determine.

As a rule, support for EU accession is reduced in crisis situations, such as when pressure on Kosovo increases or when a coronavirus pandemic is declared.

However, such a collapse in support has never happened, as in recent weeks.

Marko Uljarevic, director of Ipsos, told Blic that today, for the first time since European integration trends were being monitored, it was reported that more Serbs would not vote in favor of joining the EU in a possible referendum on those who support integration.

"In March, there was a sharp increase in the number of people who oppose European integration, along with a slight decline in those who support European integration. "A sharper decline in those who support integration. We now have 34.9 per cent of citizens who would support Serbia's EU accession in a referendum, and 43.8 per cent would vote against," Ulyarevic said.
