Former Prime Minister of Albania, Sali Berisha said today that the consultation process for the election of a new president is not transparent.

In a communication with journalists, Berisha described as 'farce' the behavior of Prime Minister Edi Rama with the Socialist Party group, adding that he is trying to do the same with the opposition.

"Do you know which candidate was proposed by the SP deputies?

"They may have proposed 40 names, but he (Rama) will choose what he wants, so the process was secret," he said.

Berisha admitted that the majority has the votes to elect the president, but with this behavior he said, 'Rama is humiliating the SP group and civil society'.

He said the opposition should not propose names for president at a time when it has no votes.

"There are ideas but how rational is it?

"You can propose when you have the votes, but when you do not have them, it is to make fun of yourself", said Berisha.

Regarding the debate within the DP, Berisha said that he does not recognize Enkelejd Alibeaj as chairman of the parliamentary group.

"The Congress will convene, will elect the National Council, will elect the vice-president.

"I do not know him (Alibeaj)", said Berisha.

"At the group meeting, I stressed that the opposition can not be represented by Taulant Balla.

"The DP will not recognize such a practice", added Berisha.

The former prime minister also stated that he does not know past decisions on expulsions from the DP and his participation in the meeting, he said, proves this.
