Romanian authorities are carrying out an operation this morning in three counties against drug traffickers carrying large quantities of cannabis from Spain, the Agence France-Presse reported.

Prosecutors from the Timisoara Territorial Office of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DRPOPT), along with judicial police officers, searched 61 homes in Timis, Karas-Severin and Hunedoara counties.

The operation aims to dismantle an organized crime group made up of Romanian citizens, which has been operating in Timisoara since September 2021.

The group is believed to have procured cannabis from Spain from Romanian citizens who settled there.
