A spokesman for the ministry, Hosam Abdel Gafar, said there were no coronavirus-infected patients in hospitals in the southern Egyptian region.

In addition, all PCR tests have been negative in the last fifteen days.

Among the reasons for the better epidemiological situation is the increasing percentage of people vaccinated against COVID-19, Gafar said.

The number of people immunized with the first dose in Kena is over 1.35 million people, those who received a second dose are over 944,000, and a booster dose - nearly 60,000, according to the Ministry of Health.

On April 6, authorities declared the Bukhaira area free of covids.

The northern governorate has one of the highest vaccination coverage in the country.

Last week, Egypt received 1.5 million doses of Pfizer from the United States.

With this shipment, the vaccines donated by the United States become a total of 25 million doses.
