By the middle of 2026, 30,000 electric cars should be reached in Bulgaria.

By the end of 2020, they are about 3,000. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for Climate Policy and Minister of Environment and Water Borislav Sandov

He graduated from Sofia University "St.

Kliment Ohridski, specialty "Geography", and is during the round table "Transport of the future - clean energy at a fair price".

He added that these will be new electric cars, but the secondary market is also developing, so some of them will be "second hand".

According to him, this should not worry us, because in the circular economy "things have to turn around".

The state is committed to building the charging infrastructure, Minister Sandov added.

He pointed out that there should be 10,000 public points across the country where everyone can charge their electric car.

"This makes a dense network, focusing on the basics of where these electric cars are, including 20-30 hubs on major roads. We are talking about highways where fast charging can happen," Sandov said.

Such public charging points for electric cars will be built in the central parts of the 50 main Bulgarian cities, as well as in large residential areas, he said.

The plans are to build at least 20-30 hubs, 150-200 fast charging stations at the entrances and exits of cities, the minister said.

They will be built on municipal territories and private sites such as shopping malls, gas stations and others.

The market approach, the public-private partnership will be sought for their construction.
