The perpetrator is still at large, and at the moment the incident is not being investigated as an act of terrorism, Sewell stressed and did not rule out anything as a possible motive.

In all likelihood, he acted alone.

From the car where the attacker dropped a smoke bomb, thick smoke came out as he entered the stop on 36th Street in the Sunset Park neighborhood.

When the doors opened, the passengers rushed outside, and some fainted on the platform, video footage shows.

At a press conference, Commissioner Sewell said the attacker first put on a gas mask, then took out his bag and opened it.

The car immediately began to fill with smoke.

The assailant then opened fire and hit many people.

The attack was carried out when the metro train entered the station.
