Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today that he had spoken by telephone today with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, with whom they discussed possible new sanctions on Russia, and asked for financial support and military assistance.

"I had a telephone conversation with Olaf Scholz.

"We have stressed that all war crimes must be identified in order to be punished," Zelensky said in his Twitter post, Telegrafi reports.

"We also talked about new sanctions against Russia.

"As well as financial and military support," Zelensky added.

This telephone conversation took place at a time when the sixth package of sanctions against Russia by the member states of the European Union is being considered, which Kiev has long demanded.
