The interconnector with Greece together with the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Alexandroupolis are not only important economic but also strategic projects, said in an interview the Prime Minister of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski and added that the talks are advanced. .

developed in these projects with partners from the Republic of Greece.

"I believe that during this year all points of the agreement will be agreed and that its implementation can begin this year.

Thus, the gas will not go as before exclusively in the east-west direction, but will go from south to north.

It is also important for energy diversification, as it enables the construction of gas-fired power plants.

"One of them will be built near the terminal in Alexandroupolis," said Prime Minister Kovacevski in an interview with MIA.

Kovacevski adds that Northern Macedonia continues to implement major strategic projects, especially in renewable energy sources.

"Every crisis must be an opportunity.

We have already started implementing large strategic projects, especially in renewable energy sources.

Last week I took part in the commissioning of the first photovoltaic plant in Oslomej.

"It is the first such coal-fired power plant in Southeast Europe where a 10 megawatt power plant has been put into operation, which will produce 15 to 17 gigawatt hours of electricity and is built by the state."

As Prime Minister Kovacevski pointed out in an interview with MIA, at the beginning of construction there are two such power plants of 50 megawatts, in the same place.

One will be built by the Turkish "Fortis" and the other by the Bulgarian "Solarprom" as large companies in the area, which based on public-private partnership will have to transfer 18 and 18.5 percent of revenues from those plants.

ESM, which will provide the country with an annual revenue of 1.5m euros and normal electricity to meet its needs.

Also, informed the Prime Minister Kovacevski, ESM with the construction of the next ten megawatt power plant, practically replaces the entire coal production in Oslomej with the production of electricity from renewable sources, namely solar energy.

Kovacevski reminded that work is underway to start the construction of a large wind farm of the German giant in this area "WPD" with a capacity of about half a gigawatt, as the solar park "Aquo" from France with the same power near Stip.
