EU Council President Charles Michel and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Joseph Borrell have condemned a missile strike on a Russian railway station in the Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk.

APA reports that EU officials said this on Twitter.

"It is terrible that Russia will strike one of the main stations used to evacuate civilians from the area where Russia is stepping up its attacks," said Charles Michel.

He stressed that more steps need to be taken: "The EU is imposing more sanctions on Russia and more weapons are being sent to Ukraine."

Josep Borrell also strongly condemned the rocket attack.

"I strongly condemn the Russian attack on the railway station in Kramatorsk this morning, which killed dozens of people and injured many.

"It's an attempt to block the way for those fleeing an unjust war and to make people suffer."

The Ukrainian side announced that Russia had fired a missile at a train station in Kramatorsk, killing more than 30 people and injuring more than 100.

Russia's Defense Ministry issued a statement denying the attack.
