Chinese authorities will deal a "heavy retaliatory blow" if Nancy Pelosi, chairwoman of the US House of Representatives, visits Taiwan.

This was stated today by the spokesman of the Office of Taiwan Affairs at the State Council of China Ma Xiaoguan, quoted by BTA.

"We will deal a heavy retaliatory blow, we will firmly defend China's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Ma said.

China will insist on peace in Ukraine "in its own way"

According to him, a possible visit of Pelosi to Taiwan will be considered by Beijing as a violation of the "One China" principle and the relevant US-China agreements.

Earlier, a Japanese television channel reported that Pelosi plans to visit Taiwan in the coming days.

She is scheduled to arrive in Japan tomorrow to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and then go to Taipei.

This would be the first visit to Taiwan in 25 years by a speaker of the US House of Representatives.
