The Georgian Finance Ministry has responded to claims by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's intelligence service and Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk that the Georgian political leadership has reached an agreement with Russia on the transportation of sanctioned products through Georgia.

APA's local bureau reports that the statement of the Ministry of Finance stated that the views voiced by Ukraine were baseless and absurd accusations.

"Since the first days of sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation by the international community, Georgia has exercised strict control at all customs checkpoints and controlled the inflow and outflow of goods into the country," the statement said.

It was stressed that Georgia will continue to exercise strict customs control in this area and share information on the issue with its partners.
