The Slovenian and Russian flags have the same colors - white, blue, red - where the Slovenian flag has an additional logo inside.

"We proudly raised the Slovenian and European flags when we returned to Kiev," Boshtjan Lesjak, who is in charge of work in Kiev, told Slovenian television, Telegrafi reports.

"However, in the morning I was visited by representatives of the Ukrainian National Guard accompanied by police representatives, who politely asked me if we could temporarily remove the Slovenian flag, as it bears a strong resemblance to the Russian one," Lesjak added.

Recall that Slovenia on Monday reopened the embassy in Kiev, a month after it had evacuated its diplomats from Ukraine as a result of the Russian occupation.

Meanwhile, Slovenian Ambassador to Ukraine Tomaz Mencin is continuing work from the Polish town of Rzeszowa near the border with Ukraine, the Slovenian Foreign Ministry announced this week.
