El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele has threatened to kill members of criminal gangs in prison.

APA reports quoting Hürriyet newspaper that he shared this on Twitter.

The President of El Salvador was forced to do so by the growing wave of violence in his country.

The Salvadoran president also threatened to kill members of the released criminal gang.

He also posted a photo of prison guards abducting prisoners half-naked.

"Stop killing or they will pay the price," Bukele added.

It should be noted that the vast majority of killings in El Salvador are caused by inter-gang conflict.

87 people have been killed since Friday alone.

Police have arrested five gang leaders, saying the country's two largest gangs, Mara Salvatrucha or MS-13, were responsible for the crimes.

To combat the violence, the government declared a state of emergency on Sunday and ordered police to conduct more inspections.
