A round table on "Azerbaijan - oil, gas and beyond: prospects for future energy partnership" was held with the participation of German energy companies as part of the "Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue" conference.

The Ministry of Energy told APA-Economics that Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov addressed a round table attended by representatives of the German Wind Energy Association, Energy Agency - DENA, the Eastern Business Association and the Federation of Industries.

Noting that Germany's trade turnover with Azerbaijan, an important trade partner in the South Caucasus, increased by 57% last year, the minister spoke about the prospects for developing cooperation between the two countries in new areas.

It was noted that the end of the protracted conflict has fully ensured security, which is one of the main conditions for the flow of investment in the region.

In particular, the widespread use of renewable energy sources, both in the liberated economic zones of Karabakh and East Zangazur, and in the country as a whole, has been identified as one of the national priorities for the country.

All this, as well as the rich experience of German companies with the potential and goals of Azerbaijan in the field of "green energy", as well as the integration of possible investment opportunities can open a new page in energy cooperation.

Minister Parviz Shahbazov said that although Azerbaijan is a country with large oil and gas resources and exports them, one of the main goals is to develop the renewable energy sector and become an exporter of "green energy". Considering the rich potential of renewable energy of about 27,000 megawatts on land and 157,000 megawatts at sea, as well as plans to build two new lines to increase electricity exports to Europe, we can say that Azerbaijan has great potential to become a source of green energy corridor.

It also represents another contribution of Azerbaijan to the diversification of Europe's energy supply through "green energy".

The event focused on fruitful cooperation with VPC, Siemens, Berlin Wind and other German companies in the energy sector.

It was also noted that the German Energy Agency-DENA cooperated productively to develop 4 pilot project proposals in support of the development of decentralized renewable energy in Azerbaijan.

To expand cooperation, German companies have been invited to participate in renewable energy projects.

The round table clarified the issues of interest to companies, provided information on promising projects and discussed opportunities for cooperation.
