Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam slams PM Imran Khan

Islamabad :

Opposition parties in Pakistan have resolved to topple

Imran Khan

's government in trouble.

PM Imran is facing the toughest political crisis since assuming power in 2018.

The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), which includes the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Jamiat-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-I) and other parties, organized a massive rally in the capital Islamabad on Monday night.

Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz and Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and other PDMs who started the rally from Lahore on March 26 Arrived in Islamabad to join the supporters of the parties.

Maryam, daughter of three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif, criticized the current prime minister for using a religious card to protect her shaky throne.

At the rally, a day after Imran's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party organized a massive rally in support of him here, Maryam said, "I challenge you to vote on the no-confidence motion on the day of your vote." Bring 172 MPs along." He tried to save his seat on Khan after the government decided to hand over the post to Chaudhry Pervez Elahi in place of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to gain the support of the Pakistan Muslim League-Qaida Party. Accused of sidelining the most trusted Buzdar.

Maryam said, "You pushed your most trusted man (Bujdar) into the well to save your power.

We have never seen such a despicable person in our entire life." He also said that Imran Khan has claimed a foreign conspiracy to remove him from power.

Maryam blamed Khan for showing a fake letter at the rally a day earlier. She said Imran has lost the confidence of the people, which is proved by the ruling party's defeat in 15 of the 16 by-elections in recent months.

Several other PDM leaders also addressed the gathering and they also announced to convert their rally into a dharna and said that their workers would camp till the no-confidence motion is voted on.

Khan, 69, is heading a coalition government and his government may collapse if some allies decide to pull out of the coalition.

The PTI, which has 155 members in Pakistan's 342-member National Assembly, needs the support of at least 172 lawmakers to remain in power. The opposition had submitted a no-confidence motion to the National Assembly on March 8.

A rally was organized in view of this proposal.

Voting on the proposal will be held between March 31 and April 3.

Khan came to power in 2018 with a promise to create a 'Naya Pakistan' but miserably failed to address the fundamental problem of keeping commodity prices under check, giving the opposition an opportunity to attack his government.
