A 48-year-old Albanian, partner in a construction company with his brother, has been arrested by Italian police as the suspected perpetrator of the murder of Italian citizen Tommaso Dini, a 50-year-old real estate agent.

The Italian citizen lost his life in hospital after being stabbed in Piazza Piave in the municipality of Scandicc, near the city of Florence, on the night between Saturday and Sunday, around 2 o'clock, reports the Italian news agency ANSA.

Investigators suspect the killing may have been due to disagreements between the two at work.

The Albanian was a resident of Scandicci near the place where the victim lived.

It is reported that after being stabbed, Tommaso Dini was found unconscious and taken to hospital.

He had serious injuries to his chest and legs.

On Sunday morning he underwent surgery but in the afternoon failed to survive and passed away.

The knife with which the crime was committed was not found.
