Forensic experts from the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Shumen seized more than six kilograms of cannabis during an operation to counter the spread of drugs.

A 54-year-old criminal man from Shumen and a 20-year-old woman were detained, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior announced.

Work on the case began more than a month ago after receiving information about a man who distributes drugs. 

On March 10, at around 2:00 pm, a car with Shumen registration was stopped for inspection at the fork for the village of Belokopitovo.

Behind the wheel is a 54-year-old criminal man from the village of Suha Reka.

A 20-year-old woman from the same village is also traveling in the car.

A search of the car turned up two plastic bags with about one kg of cannabis.

During a search of a property in Shumen, inhabited by the two, about 1.5 kg of dry grass mass and half a kg of white substance in lumps, which according to their data is amphetamine, were seized.

An inspection of a house in Suha Reka, near the man's home, found a room equipped for growing cannabis, which was not in operation.

A can containing nearly 3.8 kg of marijuana was found next to the "greenhouse".

The equipment and the drug were seized.

The man and the woman were detained for up to 24 hours.

By a decree of a prosecutor, a "bail" measure was taken against them.
