At the same time, party general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said in a press conference that in a democracy, the decision of the people is paramount and this is also the strength of our democracy.

The election results of five states have been against the expectations of the Congress party.

We were expecting good results in Uttarakhand, Goa and Punjab but, we accept that we failed to get the blessings of the people.

He said that 'in Punjab as Shri Charanjit Singh Channi ji, we tried to give a humble, clean and grounded new leadership, but could not overcome the anti-incumbency wave of four and a half years of Amarinder government.

The people voted for change.

We accept the orders of the people and congratulate the Aam Aadmi Party for the victory in Punjab.
