It is located in the southeastern part of Kosovo, where it provides its inhabitants with a simple and peaceful living.

It is this village Letnica in the municipality of Viti, the village that attracts many visitors because of the beautiful view from which it is surrounded.

But it is the church of Letnica, exactly what made this village even more beautiful and attractive to visitors.

The parish priest of this church Don Marjan Demaj told the Telegraph that Letnica has been inhabited since 1500 and even according to him this place has been rich in ores similar to Trepça and Novobërdë.

"You are currently in Letnica.

Letnica is in the southeastern part of Kosovo, which is almost on the border with northern Macedonia.

Letnica is mentioned as a village since 1500, when it had inhabitants.

And according to some cemetery tiles we found there we see that some people who were from Ragusa, Dubrovnik were buried.

Then from further history we have arguments and writings that here as in Novobërdë and Trepça there were ores and mines in which people worked and the experts of these assets were from Ragusa and the workers were from Bosnia and based on the situation in our country for "Because of many wars and because of the Ottoman Empire, these ores could not be developed much and the mines were closed and then they were left without work", he said.

Don Marjani, speaking with great pleasure about the village where he lives and works, could not help but mention the church of Letnica, which also has the statue of the "Blessed Lady" or Lady of Letnica, which according to him carries a history of about 400 annual.

"This church was built in 1927 to 1933. The peculiarity of this church is that it is visited by many people regardless of Catholic or Muslim or of different religions.

Even those who probably do not believe come and visit this place, come here and feel good, not only from the point of view that it really has a beautiful nature but also from the church itself, because this church is more special because it is a diocesan saint and we can say that we Catholics have the first church here in Kosovo in which many people gravitate.

"The body of the" Blessed Lady ", which according to experts is about 400 years old, also made it special", Don Marjani emphasizes.

Don Marjani further confessed the "power" of the "Blessed Lady", where according to him her statue had stood on the mountain of Letnica, for more than 200 years.

Until a light constantly coming from it has prompted residents to find it and send it to church.

"This body was in 1960 in Skopje.

But when a war broke out between the Austro-Hungarians and the Turks, the Austro-Hungarians lost the war and the Catholics had to leave Skopje and come to these mountains here.

And they brought this body with them.

It is said that this body has been in the mountains for about 200 years because they had nowhere to put it.

"While the residents themselves saw a light coming from it, then the residents found it and brought it and placed it in the church here", he continues to confess.

And another fact which made the church of Letnica even more special is that exactly in this church, Mother Teresa had started her journey as a missionary sister on August 14, 1927 when the feast of Our Lady of Letnica is celebrated.

This church was also visited by Mother Teresa, as a young girl because here the pilgrimage takes place during the summer because the feast of the "Blessed Lady" is celebrated on August 15 with tens of thousands of people coming to this place, so August is very active today. to this day.

And exactly at this time Mother Teresa came to this place with her family and on August 14, 1927 in this church she decided to become a missionary sister and from this place she started her mission.

This is very important for us and in her honor we here in the church have a body of hers that reminds us that she has visited this place ", proudly confesses Don Marjan Demaj.

On the other hand life has become more dynamic than ever and people are facing many different problems of daily life, Don Marjan Demaj affirms the fact that people visit this church because they need peace.

"I am a witness that for two years now I have been leading this church, I am the parish priest and rector of the sanctuary.

I witness that many people come here with different needs.

Today life has become very difficult because the pace of life is fast and people need peace because they are burdened by various life problems.

And you can see for yourself that here behind there are many prayers and there are different requests of many people who are really in different difficulties and ask for a blessing and advice from me ", concluded the parish priest Demaj.
