Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a one-on-one meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the Kremlin that a new stage in relations between the two countries has begun.

APA reports that Putin said that a declaration on mutual alliance activities will be signed between Russia and Azerbaijan today.

"It is clear that this is a new stage in the development of our relations," he said.

Putin also said that President Aliyev's visit took place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.

In turn, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev noted that the signing of the Declaration on Mutual Alliance was of great positive significance.

"There are about 40 clauses in the declaration, the document covers a wide range of aspects of interaction," said the Azerbaijani leader.
