Customs officers found 13,260 kg of heroin during a search of a truck.

On February 7, 2022, a tractor with an attached semi-trailer with Turkish registration arrived at the Kapitan Andreevo Ministry of Transport, transporting goods from Turkey to Germany.

A mobile customs team selected the truck for a thorough inspection, during which customs inspectors found in the driver's cab in a passenger bag above the bed eight, wrapped in aluminum foil and vacuum-packed packages containing a brownish-colored compressed substance.

During the field drug test, the substance reacted to heroin.

The total gross weight of the detected drug is 13,260 kg worth BGN 1,193,400 at prices for the needs of the judiciary.

Pre-trial proceedings were instituted in the case by an investigating customs inspector at the Burgas Customs TD under the supervision of the Haskovo District Prosecutor's Office.

The driver of the truck, D.A.

52 years old, a Turkish citizen, was detained and charged with a crime under Article 242, paragraph 4 of the Criminal Code.

In the course of the investigation, thanks to the joint operational and investigative actions with the assistance of employees of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime - Ministry of Interior, the accomplice of DA was discovered, namely B.M.

42 years old, a Bulgarian citizen, who was also detained and charged under Article 20 of the Penal Code as instigator and helper.

The Haskovo District Prosecutor's Office is about to submit a request to the Haskovo District Court to take a measure of restraint "detention in custody" against the accused D.A.
