Congress released manifesto in view of Manipur assembly elections

Parties have intensified their preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Manipur.

Meanwhile, in view of the elections to be held in the state, Congress has released its manifesto.

The manifesto also includes repeal of the controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) among 30 promises made by the Manipur Congress.

Along with this, the manifesto also mentions about the protection of minorities.

Let us tell you that elections are to be held in Manipur in two phases.

Votes will be cast on February 27 and March 3. 

It is worth noting that in a recent operation by para commandos in MON district of Nagaland, many villagers were killed due to mistaken identity.

Since then a section has been raising voice against the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA).

It is also demanding complete repeal of this Act from Nagaland and Manipur.

The manifesto released by the Congress includes free medical treatment for children with serious diseases, creation of Manipur Regiment and construction of Manipur Trade Center.

Along with this, compensation for wrongly detained media persons and relaxation in the upper age limit of three years to unemployed youth due to epidemic has been said.
