Serbian President Alexander Vucic

Alexander Vucic - Serbian lawyer and politician. Alexander Vucic was born on March 5th, 1970 in Belgrade.

supported Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic after today's decision by the Australian court, defining such an attitude towards the athlete as a witch hunt, TASS reported, citing information in the Telegraph.

"If they had immediately said that unvaccinated people could not enter Australia, he would not have arrived. So he did everything he had to do, and then they started teasing on an unprecedented scale, something like witch-hunting," Vucic said.

In a telephone conversation with Djokovic, Vucic said that the Australian authorities had humiliated themselves by bullying the athlete.

He said the tennis player "can return with his head held high in his country".

Djokovic in the first words after the court decision

"Those who wanted to demonstrate some principles showed that they have no principles. They mocked the tennis player for 10 days to give him a decision they knew from day one," Vucic said.

He added that with Djokovic's example, they wanted to show how "the world order works and what they can do with everyone".

With a unanimous decision taken today by a panel of the Federal Court of Australia, Novak Djokovic lost an appeal against the decision to revoke his visa.

Thus, the Serb will be deported and will not take part in the Australian Open, which starts tomorrow in Melbourne.
