We have heard of many citizens fleeing North Korea in search of a better life in South Korea - but the opposite has happened these days when a person crossed the land border into North Korea.

According to the Joint Staff Committee of South Korea, this person was discovered on Saturday around 21:20, where with the help of surveillance equipment in the "demilitarized zone" that separated the two Koreas, he entered from South Korea in that of the North, Telegrafi reports.

"It has been confirmed that this person crossed the military line along the northern border," the statement said.

The above-mentioned person has not been identified yet, a Committee official said, adding that the South Korean authorities have sent a message to the North Koreans regarding the incident.

The army has even set out in search of him - but to no avail.

Due to poverty and repression over 30 thousand people have fled from North Korea to South Korea (from the Korean War from 1950-1953), but crossings to the other side are extremely rare.
