Kane Tanaka, the Japanese woman recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest woman, is celebrating her 119th birthday today.

Tanaka lives in a nursing home in Fukuoka, and due to some restrictions, she has very little opportunity to see her relatives.

The Japanese woman was born on January 2, 1903.

Her husband and eldest son died during World War II.

Throughout his life, Tanaka worked in a confectionery shop opened before the war.

After retiring in the 1970s, he visited the United States several times.

She has been living in a nursing home in Fukuoka since 2005.
