The government has known that the green transition will lead to shortages and thus increase the price of electricity, and again they have not implemented strategies to prevent this.

This is what the Alliance for Albanians assessed today, in the public reaction to the increase of electricity in Northern Macedonia.

They say that 2022 should have started well, but one more expense was added to the citizen's pocket.

"Even though we all started 2022 with the desire to be a good year, unfortunately it started badly. From January 1, the busy pocket of the citizen, with all the expenses and increases that he has continuously had for all products during the year he left behind, now as a burden was added the new increase of the price of central heating in Skopje, meanwhile at the republican level, the new increase in the price of electricity by 9.48% and the removal of the free tariff during the day, which would not leave, the increase should be 14.23%. This means that the cost of 100 thousand euros per day of the free tariff from now on together with the new increase of electricity will have to be paid by the citizen ", said Ilire Dauti, MP of AS.

They show data on energy production and concluded that "no investment has been made in green energy production".

"As a result, the great dependence of the domestic market on imports led to an increase in the price of electricity," concludes Dauti.

From here, ASH comes up with two proposals to the Government in order for citizens to receive the same electricity bill despite the price increase:

to consider the possibility that for as long as the energy crisis lasts to remove 5% of VAT from the bill with characteristics amounting to 3440 denars

public lighting tax in the amount of 168 denars taken by the central government to help local government./TV21/
