The Special Envoy of the Government of Northern Macedonia for the settlement of the dispute between Skopje and Sofia, Vlado Buckovski, believes that in the coming months Bulgaria will lift the blockade on the start of membership talks.

"In 2021, Bulgaria did not have a regular government for eight months.

There were three pairs of parliamentary elections as well as presidential elections.

"This also affected our efforts to find a common solution and remove the blockade," Buckovski said.

He expects that in 2022 an acceptable solution will be found with Bulgaria.

"This solution must be based on mutual respect and Bulgaria's blockade will be lifted.

"The start of talks with the European Union will finally be a reality," Buckovski said.
