Italy has registered more than 126,000 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the highest figure the country has ever reported since the pandemic broke out.

According to the Italian news agency ANSA, reports Telegrafi, within the 24-hour period, 156 people have died in Italy from COVID-19, based on the statement of the Ministry of Health on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the country registered 98,000 new cases and 136 victims.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Italy has recorded more than 137 thousand victims, the second highest number in Europe after Britain.

So far it has recorded more than five million infections.
