A telephone conversation between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden has ended.

APA reports that the Russian leader's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this.

Earlier, the White House press service said that the conversation lasted 50 minutes.

It started at 15.35 Washington time (00.35 Baku time) on Thursday and ended at 16.25 (Baku time 01.25) on Thursday.

Earlier, Peskov said that the telephone conversation between the two leaders was initiated by Russia.

The purpose of the contacts was to discuss the issues identified during the recent talks between the two leaders via video link.

The leaders plan to discuss a number of issues, including the upcoming US-Russia talks on January 10, as well as a meeting of the NATO-Russia Council and a meeting in the OSCE area.

Earlier, White House spokesman Jen Psaki told reporters that the telephone conversation between the leaders of Russia and the United States began at 15:35 Washington time (00:35 Baku time).

He added that Biden is currently at his home in Wilmington, Delaware, where he is spending the weekend.

The telephone conversation between the two leaders is still closed to the press.

Note that this is the second conversation between the two presidents in the last month.

For the first time, on December 7, Putin and Biden held a two-hour teleconference.
