Madhusudan Mistry's statement

New Delhi:

By the end of September 2022, the Congress is expected to get a new national president.

Congress's Central Election Authority chairman Madhusudan Mistry said on Wednesday that the party would get a new national president by the end of September 2022.

At present, Sonia Gandhi is the interim president of the party.

He took over in July 2019 after his son and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi resigned from the post following the party's defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

"As per the schedule fixed by the Congress Working Committee, the election process for the post of Congress President will be completed by September," Mistry told ANI.

The membership drive is currently going on in full swing and this process will be completed by March 31 next year.

On foreign travel, Rahul Gandhi, Randeep Surjewala said – BJP should not spread unnecessarily rumours

"After March, the election process will be started at the primary level like block, district and state, after which the election process for the post of party president will be completed by September," he said.

Mistry further assured that things are going as per schedule and the party will have its new national president by October 1.

Let us tell you that the groups of 23 Congress leaders (G-23) have written a letter to Sonia Gandhi demanding several organizational reforms including the election of CWC members, its president and the party's parliamentary board.
