A strict quarantine regime has been restored in the Netherlands since Monday.

APA reports that the government took this step to prevent acute infections during the holiday.

In a televised address, Prime Minister Mark Rutte said quarantine was the only way to prevent the spread of the omicron.

All non-essential commercial facilities, restaurants, theaters and museums in the country will be closed until January 14.

The schools will start operating on January 9.

The number of guests to be received at home has been reduced to two quarters.
