Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said Hungary would veto a possible proposal to impose sanctions on Bosnia and Herzegovina presidency member Milorad Dodik.

As Szijjarto writes, the new German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, on her official Facebook profile, she recently threatened with sanctions against Milorad Dodik.

"We are concerned about such statements, because Bosnia and Herzegovina is close to us, maintaining stability and peace in the country is our basic security interest.

Berlin is further away, but not so far away that you can never fly to Banja Luka from there.

Negotiations.

Talk to Serbs.

With them, not for them.

"Maybe this will help you understand the situation," Szijarto wrote, Telegrafi reports.

He added that the EU could impose sanctions on anyone only by a unanimous decision of all member states.

"And just to be clear, Hungary will not give its support to any sanctions against the Serb leader in BiH, Milorad Dodik.

If there is such a proposal, we will veto it.

"Speak, not sanctions, this is what EU policy should do about the Western Balkans in the future," said the Hungarian minister.

Otherwise, last week, the new German government called on the European Union to impose sanctions on Milorad Dodik over his secessionist policies and the decision to withdraw from the state level.
