Today the Bulgarian Orthodox Church honors the church holiday of the Conception of the World and Righteous Anna, which is also celebrated as a holiday of motherhood.

In the Orthodox calendar, this holiday is closely associated with the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin.

It honors the conception of St. Anna - the mother of the Virgin.

This is the day on which St. Anne conceived the Blessed Virgin Mary, who gave to humanity Jesus Christ.

St. Anne is considered the patron saint of marriage, family and motherhood, as well as the protector of virgins, widows and pregnant women.

Righteous Joachim and Anna had no children for a long time and were very sad.

Even though they were old, their desire and prayers to God were so sincere, fervent, and devoted that he granted their request.

One day the Archangel Gabriel appeared to Anna and revealed to her that she would give birth to a blessed daughter, through whom all the tribes of the earth would be blessed and the whole world would be saved.

Nine months later, on September 8, the family was happy with a baby girl named Mary, the future mother of Jesus Christ.

The Orthodox Church honors St. Anne several times a year.

On September 8 and 9, when the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated and her parents - St. Joachim and St. Anna - are commemorated;

on December 9, when the conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary by St. Anne is celebrated, and on July 25, when the day of the Assumption or Death of St. Anne is celebrated.

In the folk calendar, apart from motherhood, the day is also associated with the turning of the sun to the east, towards spring, as well as with the increase of the day.

Something new is born, new light, new time, New Year, new luck.
