Security expert, Agim Musliu, estimates that the detection and arrest of a former employee of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency, who is suspected of revealing information that endangers the security of the country, is a success for this institution, as it prevented the leakage of information.

Recommends the creation of an additional instrument in this agency to strengthen internal control over the non-leakage of information.

Musliu says that even in the world's largest services there is a leak of information and individuals who can abuse the privileges of work, while emphasizing that although a new institution, the KIA has proven that it is able to clean itself.

"KIA, although a new service, has shown that it is able to clean itself, like any other organism, successfully, at the right time and in the right way.

All operational methods have been defined in time, all steps have been taken in time and I consider it as a success step of KIA and I wish that in the future in this way to clear its ranks, especially in this segment, as which is very sensitive.

"There are different methods by which the secret services can and do try in any way, permanently to hurt Kosovo through the sectors of similar institutions," he said.

According to him, KIA reacted in time by detecting and escorting the person already arrested.

"As in any institution, even in KIA, all actions, rights and obligations are defined by law. But, it can happen everywhere that any worker can abuse what they offer work privileges. This case also happened in KIA, which is not an exception from all other services in the world. There have been many bigger scandals and they have hurt those countries, those societies, where they have happened. Fortunately, I see it as a success of the KIA, which has detected, tracked and reacted in a timely manner and arrested the worker, who misused the information and misused it. illegal what has been provided as information and which serve the secret service of Kosovo, respectively the KIA ", he adds.

It is important for the security expert to detect and investigate where the information is leaking.

While denying the rumors that the person arrested yesterday was the director of the IT sector.

"It is important to detect or investigate where the information flows, where it ends and who can be harmed by this information flow.

And, this is done… The person in question was introduced to the public as head of IT, but was not head of IT, was a worker, one of the technicians who were part of this directorate and leaked information that did not is correct.

"It can also be intentional and false or intentional placement to increase the problem that may occur in this institution", he says.

In order not to repeat such abuses, Musliu recommends the establishment of an additional mechanism within the Kosovo Intelligence Agency, in order to further strengthen internal control.

"I see one more plus for the Kosovo Intelligence Agency to create within itself an additional instrument to strengthen internal control for non-leakage of information.

"It means that this is a kind of lesson for the KIA, which will certainly react in this way and will create an additional and even stricter internal instrument so that internal information does not leak and go out." he emphasizes.

The former KIA employee, with the initials MK, who was arrested yesterday on suspicion of revealing confidential information, appeared today at the first hearing, in which case he is expected to be remanded in custody.

While in the communiqué issued yesterday by the Basic Prosecution in Prishtina it is said that the suspect acted with suspicious motives, abusing his official position and revealing classified information.

"With these actions it is suspected that the above-mentioned person has violated the security of the Republic of Kosovo… To the same, we inform you that other procedural actions will be taken," the statement said.

Whereas, the Basic Court in Prishtina has assigned the measure of detention to the former official of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency, MK, on suspicion of abusing his official duty and information, disclosing classified information and unauthorized photography and recording./kp/Telegrafi /
