Rapid antigen tests allow people who have no symptoms of coronavirus to see if they are infected.

A study conducted by researchers at Queen Mary University of London, the University of Oxford, the Institute for Advanced Study, Vienna and the Medical University of Graz found that antigen tests are 95 percent effective in detecting COVID-19 when first used of symptoms.

A group of scientists studying tropical medicine at the University of Tübingen in Germany recently published a study in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases, also noting the effectiveness of the COVID-19 antigen test.

But, they added that some drinks can lead to a false positive test.

They reported: "All drinks like Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero, or Fanta or energy drinks like Red Bull, alcoholic beverages like vodka, whiskey, or brandy and carbonated mineral water caused a red test line to appear." .

The red line of the test showed a positive infection, writes Express.co.uk.

The researchers explained the science behind the effect, saying it could be due to "an altered pH in these solutions, which could modulate the function of the antibodies covered in the test line."

They added that testing is best done in the morning, before any food or drink and under supervision when possible.
