Jennifer Garner shared on social media this Monday that her father William Garner died.

She was 85 years old, the actress wrote in the publication.

Garner posted a series of photos of her father and a video of the two of them in a Capital One credit card commercial on her verified Instagram account, writing, "My dad passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon."

“We were with him, singing Amazing Grace when he left us (we accompanied him in his transition or scared him, valid question),” he continued, in a moment of levity. “While there is no tragedy in the death of an 85-year-old man who lived a wonderful, healthy life, I know that pain is inevitable and lurks in unexpected corners,” she added.

The “Alias” actress said she felt grateful.

“We are grateful for Dad’s kind demeanor and quiet strength. Because of how he joked with a mischievous smile and because of the way he played the role of a girl's dad, always patient. “We are grateful for his work ethic, leadership and faith,” he wrote in the post, adding his family’s gratitude “to the medical communities of Charleston Area Medical Center and City of Hope.”

“There is a lot to say about my dad—my sisters and I will never stop talking about how wonderful he was, so bear with us—but for now I share these memories with my appreciation for the kind and brilliant man, father, and grandfather. that he was, as well as the loving legacy he left,” Garner wrote.

In January, the actress celebrated her parents' 59th wedding anniversary with another Instagram post.

"Happy 59th anniversary to my incredibly sweet and loving parents," she wrote in the caption at the time. “Thank you, Mom and Dad, for giving my sisters and me such a safe and happy start to life.”
