Man booked Uber to go home from Bengaluru airport

Bengaluru is infamous for its hours-long traffic jams.

People often share stories about traffic nightmares and low availability of public transport.

Due to this, many people take private cabs and depend on cab services like Ola and Uber.

Recently, an X user who wanted to travel from the airport to Electronic City was shocked to see the prices of Uber Cabs.

User Rajesh Bhattad on the microblogging site shared a screenshot of Uber charging around Rs 2,000 for a trip from Kempegowda International Airport to the south-eastern suburb of Bengaluru.

The user captioned the post, "Uber price fixed after midnight from Bengaluru airport to HSR."

He thanked BMTC (Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation) and suggested that he take a bus instead of a cab to reach home.

Notably, the screenshot was taken after midnight when cab services usually charge night-time charges or activate surge pricing.

It revealed that a trip to their home on Uber Go would cost them Rs 1,931, while it was Rs 1,846 for Uber Go Sedan and Uber Premier.

The fare for Uber XL increased to Rs 2,495.

This price surprised people on social media.

One user suggested taking the Vayu Vajra bus to HSR Layout.

On this Bhatt said, he has done this.

"That's what I charged. Rs 265 per person. The only challenge is booking an Uber for last mile connectivity," he said.

Many users also joined the conversation and agreed that app-based cab fares have become unreasonably high.

One person also suggested that if the pickup location of the cab is outside the airport area then the fare would be reduced by 30 to 50%.

The tweet reads, "You can try this simple hack to reduce Uber/OLA fares by around 30-50%. In the pick-up location - do not select airport area (most travelers make this simple mistake)" .Instead drive a few miles and choose pickup just outside the airport boundaries.'

Meanwhile, last year, another screenshot showing the shocking fare of an Uber cab from the airport to Electronic City also went viral online.

The user shared the screenshot and wrote, "The cost of Uber cab fare from E-City to Bengaluru airport is dangerously close to the price I pay for a flight ticket."

He also shared a screenshot of Uber's prices.

The price of Uber Premium for a distance of 52 kilometers was Rs 2,584, while the price of Uber XL was Rs 4,051.
