The Minister of Health, Ummy Mwalimu has banned private centers from removing patients who are members of NHIF from the wards, immediately after 48 hours have passed since the release of the APHFTA notice.

He has said that doing so is breaking the law of doctors, dentists and allied health experts, Chapter 152, which requires doctors not to stop services for patients they are already treating and for emergency patients.

"I direct all private and public centers/hospitals in the country to continue to receive emergency patients when they arrive at their centers as this is a requirement of law number 151 for the registration of private centers providing services and its rule number 32. Not receiving those patients is breaking the law concerned," said Minister Ummy.
